Free Service Exchange
Websquare were commissioned by a local digital entrepreneur to design and develop a clean, user friendly, classified style website aimed at an audience looking to trade and swap services, alongside the branding for the project which appropriately reflects the message and vision behind the site. As the tough economic conditions bite, this website caters to an untapped audience, providing a market place in which services are swapped that would normally cost money.
To be able to effectively develop the branding and the nature of the website's design, it was vital for us to initially understand the overall business concept behind the site and how it was perceived by its founder. For this website we needed to give people a platform where they could help each other and themselves by trading and bartering their skills and services, which in turn saves them money. It became clear that the Free Service Exchange brand is all about co-operation and sharing for mutual benefit. This friendly and positive theme was used to develop the 'shaking hands' Free Service Exchange logo. This was identified through effective questioning styles, which helped us to define what the aims and vision behind the site were. From this we were able to develop the branding and logo concepts.
We recognised that the only way this site could be successful in the long term is by developing a following, regular traffic and a variety of different services available for swapping. As such the Free Service Exchange website is incredibly user friendly by design, to encourage swappers to sign up quickly and efficiently, with plenty of calls to action. Search filters and clear categories on the homepage make it very easy to find what swaps you’re looking for and where they are. With its SEO friendly design and the ability to become a resource for information via it's blog, Free Service Exchange is by far one of the best UK based service swapping sites.
Along with the website design & development of Free Service Exchange website, Websquare were also commissioned to deliver the branding for the website. Our branding work had to appropriately reflect the theme and ethos of the website as well as its purpose, which was very much about coming to agreement in sharing each others skills.
