Ironmongery already had an eBay store and felt they were missing an opportunity by not having their own website, and could target a whole new audience by doing so. The main aim of the website was to make it easy for people to buy through the site and for Ironmongery to organise their large number of products efficiently so that people can find their products with ease. The added search feature on the site would be used by someone who had something very specific in mind. The look of the site also needed to be clean but attractive.
From the brief, we decided to place the products on the sidebar so visitors can easily find products, with an added prominent search bar at the top of the page making it convenient for people to find their appropriate items. Ironmongery can highlight their key products ranges and their offers within the banner area with 3 boxes below to link out to the desired pages or products. We used clean colours throughout the site and an orange colour to highlight key sections such as headings, calls to action, the unique selling points and price.
We achieved a well laid out user interface along with a fully functional, nice looking clear and clean website.
The main request for the logo was to use an icon to give people an insight into what the company does. They wanted to stand out and appeal to people more than their competitors. Some of their competitors websites and branding appeared considerably dull and uninspiring.
We chose the door handle as it was one of the most easily recognisable products that Ironmongery World sell. Metal being the main material in their products, we incorporated a metal effect in the colour scheme. Due to the products being more practical than visual, we chose orange to bring a little bit of life & colour to the brand.
The client was happy with the logo and it was compliant with the objective. The design can be carried on well throughout the website, especially attached to other mediums, and keeping consistent with the colours already used.
Ironmongery needed a straightforward, manageable system for their 1000's of products. The main requirement was categorisation, due to the large number of products Ironmongery sell.
We offered Ironmongery a responsive website because of the fast growing use of mobiles for internet browsing and Ecommerce shopping. We offered them a Magento Ecommerce system which we built on and customised to suit Ironmongery's requirements.
Ironmongery are now in possession of a system with a lot of functionality and flexibility. It has the ability to add multiple categories and sub-categories easily with an option to upload through a csv file, and the system makes it extremely easy to add large quantities of products at one time. The website allows the business to grow into a much more dynamic business.
