Have you caught them all using Google Map’s Pokemon game/April Fool’s Joke?

Posted by on in Newsroom

You may have seen a lot of strange things happening around the web today, from a no cheese, no sauce, just crust pizza on the Pizza Hut website to some really odd headlines like the government to ban selfies (seen in the Metro Newspaper).

A Wild Pokémon Appeared!

Without a doubt, the game of the day is ‘Pokémon Challenge’, a funny April Fools’ Day prank carried out by Google Maps that has hooked Pokémon fans from all over the world. They joke that if you “Catch them all” you will be rewarded with a job at Google, but the joke has also been turned into a very addictive game.

The target of the augmented reality game is to make us catch as many Pokémons hidden all over the world as possible. If you want to catch them all, you will need to get around many different places, including remote places like Tortuga Bay or Mount Everest, amongst others.

To activate it, you only need to update to the latest version of Google Maps on an iOS or Android device, open the search bar and scroll down until you see the Press Start button. The game will be available until the 2nd of April, so if you are fond of Pikachu and his friends, don’t let this opportunity pass you by!

Have you tried it yet?
