What can Pinterest offer my Business?

Posted by on in Ecommerce, Web Design

Have you ever been in a situation where you have had bits of paper laying around with a recipe you have enjoyed or bookmarked sites you liked on the internet which you forgot about and never came back to?

Pinterest is a much more visual and easier to use bookmarking tool. You “pin” things to a board just like you would with a real life pinboard. You create boards, whether it be wedding dress ideas, articles you have found useful or design inspiration, etc. and add pins within this. You can add pins which can be videos or images from the internet using a button you can install or you can search within Pinterest itself and browse other users’ collections. It is incredibly addictive and everything is in one place.

What is the difference between a Personal and Business Pinterest Account?

There are two types of accounts – Business and Personal. The main difference being, a business account gives you analytics allowing you to record things like: how many people have clicked on your pins, repinned your pins, how many times you have appeared on peoples feeds and how active you have been. Your page will be associated with your Business name rather than you personally.

What next?

Sounds nice… but how would all this benefit my business?

  • Opportunity to show off your products.
  • You can link straight to a specific product on your website, allowing people to buy.
  • It is a good marketing tool to engage with your audience, pushing out your brand to the relevant people.
  • If people repin your products, it shares your brand and your products with more people, which may end up in a sale.
You can show your expertise in an area or industry.
  • Figures have shown people are more likely to buy a product they have seen on Pinterest than on other social networks.

How else can I take advantage of Pinterest?

You can add share links within website blogs and products pages so people can add to their boards from your site with ease. People for example may come across one of your products and it may not be at that time convenient to buy. Pinterest allows them to save it to one of their boards and come back to it at a later point with the added benefit of other pinners seeing it.
